REV. Opambour endorses John Mahama, composes campaign for him
Opambour posed a critical question, “Is Bawumia suggesting that as ‘mate,’ he bears no responsibility when the ‘driver’ (President Akufo-Addo) drives recklessly?” He lambasted Bawumia’s claim that his suggestions to the President are ignored, emphasizing the need for unity and accountability in governance.
Opambour argued, “By saying he’s the mate, is he implying that he’s powerless to act when the driver is reckless? Is he shifting all the blame to the driver? As Vice President, he should own up to the government’s actions and demonstrate solidarity with the President, rather than exposing him to public ridicule.”
Opambour’s comments were in response to Dr. Bawumia’s inaugural address as the NPP flagbearer on February 7, 2024, at the UPSA auditorium in Accra. Bawumia likened his role in government to a “driver’s mate” and promised to pursue his vision and priorities if elected president. He urged Ghanaians not to judge him solely on the current government’s performance.
Opambour’s statement concluded with a call to action, “Vote for Experience, John Mahama, over experiment, Bawuliar.”
